Our Background
Between 2015 and 2017 Dr. Rosario Arias Doblas coordinated the (Neo)Victorian Network in Spain (funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, FFI2015-71025-REDT, https://vins-network.org/), based in Malaga and formed by researchers from various parts of the country who participated in different funded research projects and/or research groups. The research lines were interdisciplinary and varied, and different methodologies were applied, yet we shared an interest in the Victorian past and its repercussions on the present.
This network, then, set the foundations for the exchange of ideas and collaborative work amongst different research projects and groups, and made it a priority to share knowledge with both the public and private sectors of society.

Our Society
The success of the network and its expanding number of members suggested the relevance of this field, as well as the need to establish a long-lasting and open forum in which researchers and students with an interest in the Victorian past and its dialogue with the present could continue to exchange ideas, establish collaborative projects, engage new students, and organize events in which to transfer this knowledge to society.
In addition, in contrast with other academic contexts in which (Neo)Victorian studies were thriving, with numerous societies or postgraduate programmes, Spain had yet to follow suit and consolidate a national academic network in this rapidly growing area of studies. The Society wishes to fill this gap and promote (Neo)Victorian studies in Spain.
